Historical fiction

Excellant historical fiction ...about a young Golden couple living in the 1920's, when suddenly their beautiful 4 yr old daughter Mabel starts to exhibit signs of epilepsy.This turns the family into turmoil because Edward the husband / father is working on eugenics movement in his job, with ideas that will be embraced by Adolf Hitler. When Mabel develops this disease their world is shattered, as it is considered shameful...and must be hidden ..as Edward's life long work and his Familys Name and Honor will be in Jeopardy. Little Mable is the Heart of this story...and it takes you through all emotions of both the fathers point of view and the mothers...Mainly that so much is not know of this disease, and the first thing ..is that the Father wants to put her into an institution..at that time..this is what they did...out of shame and pure Ignorance about the different degrees of the disease.The incarnation of many and sterilization of thousand disabled people..The story shows us the lengths a mother will go through to protect her child and to fight to find different cures in different countries..anything ti help her dear precious child..and to keep her safe. I cannot say enough about the depth of this excellant story, All the many characters that play a part in bringing it all together...there are so many layers..it is so beautifully written...it kept me up many a night..not wanting to go to bed and reading, reading till I just couldn't anymore !!! It is very well researched...and it shock you with so many twists and turns...but all the while your heart is rooting for Mable. For Eleanor's and Edward's Marriage to survive their fears and shame and deceit. You want with all your heart for this loving good couple...this family to beat the odds. Its Soooo Good !! An Excellant read ...that is so deserving of all 5 stars .🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great book !

If you enjoy historical fiction or not this is a must read. It started a touch slow but quickly became hard to put down. It is a glimpse into the life of a mother who struggles between what is best for her ill daughter and her steadfast love for her.
