Another hilarious and heartwarming sojourn in Choctaw County, Alabama, with the veterinarian whose previous chronicles of the ways of man and beast include Fields and Pastures New and A Friend of the Flock.
Even though I qualified academically for both human and veterinary school in 1960 I was rejected because of my size 5"1"and thae facts I was a female, and City girl! Obviously I chose the 'other' medical school but alas dreamed of working with animals. I devoured the James Herriott books but Dr. Macormak's experiences seem so real I could picture myself as country vet althr ough the stripping to the waist I would have to modify! A well written, thoroughly enjoyable book that made me immediately order and begin_FRIEND OF THE FLOCK_.I feel as though I know the family and Butler, Alabama. Please keep sharing your memories with those of us who can only dream of the life of a vet. I feel as though I could drive down a country riad and immediately recognize your family, Carney Sam, the County agent, Brownie and all the people in the book. This book is appropriate for all ages. __Polly Oas Las Vegas, NV._____ ________________.
