The Heratage Guide Umbria

We used the book as our #1 carry-on reference in Umbria this year. Its light weight and small size make it easy to tuck into carry-on baggage. The book is a little more detailed than the Eyewitness guide. It has larger print and fewer pictures (usually 1 picture / page), which makes reading the text easier. The maps were excellent. If I were limited to carry only one book to Umbria, this would be it.

guidebooks need to have both an overview and detailed descriptions of tourist sights. This guide accomplishes both purposes! In fact we bought one for our son-in-law and one for ourselves!
Excellent maps of each town

This is a very useful guide when visiting the many hilltowns in Umbria. There are excellent maps of each town, and good written descriptions. Using this guide book it is easy to keep one's bearings. The size of the book makes it easy to carry as well.
