The Hearts of Men

Initially, I obtained the book just to see "what" a man from a small town in South Carolina (the one in which I currently reside) could possibly say to the world. Giving his age, I could not imagine what he had experienced that could really make a difference. In a span of 5 hours, I found out. (...P>The Hearts of Men exemplified reality, truth, and an understanding that most people do not realize that men encounter.<p>I concluded the book looking differently at the relationships I have not just with my fiancee`, but with my father, my brother and my male friends. I began to look with my heart and not just my eyes into the daily issues, including relationships, that these men had to deal with.<p>Then I realized that Mr. Hunter not only had something to say, in his book, he said something. And there is a difference.<p>Thank you, Travis, for opening my eyes to some things. Whether intentionally or not, you accomplished what you aimed to do. And even if I am the only one who feels the way that I do, even though I know I am not since your book has been on backorder for months now, you've made a difference. <p>God bless!<p>Your homegirl...

We can only assume what the heart a man may hold. Never do we really know because they are not as forthcoming. The Hearts of Men made me smile, laugh out loud, gasp and cry. This was truly a touching story.The characters were portrayed so realistically that you could see glimpses of folks in your life. The novel centered on the lives of three generations of men, none related by blood but related by manhood. Poppa Doc, with his wisdom of life and responsibilities, was my favorite. He touched all their lives in a very profound way. Bernard, a son, husband and father who thought he was doing the right things but unable to see his ways were helping to destroy his marriage. I felt his pain and was overjoyed that he was able to fight through his pain. And finally we have Prodigy (a unique name). Prodigy, who has been there, done that, was able to open his heart to a child and his child. Prodigy came full circle to finally find peace and happiness. Travis Hunte!r writes with so much enthusiasm and realism that this was a quick read with many messages that you cannot help but heed. Good job!

I enjoyed the characters in this book very much. I enjoyed the many up to date scenarios that took place in the book. I wish that this book could be read by all African Americans. Prodigy has shown us how to relate to everyone in our villages that has problems. We need more father figures like Poppa Doc to step up to the plate. Even though it took some time for Pappa Doc to get his point accross to his son it did not stop him from helping others.Even though this book is fiction I'm sure most people can relate to all the characters. I also loved Travis Hunter's writing style. Keep on writing.

This is a story that will touch your heart in so many ways ! Meeting the characters and the lessons they learn about love,relationships and, especially resposibilites,was certainly wonderful . The characters were so real like and believeable you could even feel the pain!I was so surprise to find out who Bernard's wife was caught with ! It was a shock and to think she wanted to put all the blame on the other person ! She was caught with him and wanted all the fault to be on the other person ! She was just as guilty ! She messed up big time but I was hoping Benard would have the heart to forgive her . The relationship with Prodigy and Nina was a great one ! Prodigy learned what love felt like ! Popa Doc was a man we could all loved and learn so much from and for it to end that way.... it was such a touching moment ! A tearjeker in end ! A Moment that you would feel like you lost someone close to you ! Be sure to have a tissue near by for the ending. Yes this is definitely the making of an excellent movie ! This is a story not to be missed ! Don't hesistant get it now !
