The Haunting of Brynn Wilder

Sad to see the other reviews. It is a quick read that is engaging. I found this book from Simone St. James recommendations.

THE HAUNTING OF BRYNN WILDER by Wendy Webb Firstly, the title and cover of this book is misleading AF. No one is being haunted in the traditional sense. The ghosts? They are not doing the ghosty things! Suspense? Thriller? Uh.. where? Despite that major issue, I did like the characters. They were just a bunch of random, fun and quirky people with interesting backstories. LuAnn and Gray were my favorites. I definitely would have loved to spend a night or two at LuAnn’s little hotel. Also, the setting of Wharton, located on Lake Superior, has all the cute, small town charm you’d expect and want. That said, it’s too bad the plot had many holes and loose ends that didn’t quite make sense or were dropped with no explanation for the sake of a happy ending. If you’re looking for a cozy (cheesy, sappy…) romance disguised as a “spooky mystery”, this is the book for you. If you want a real gothic horror, mystery or thriller I would look elsewhere. Rating: 2/5 ⭐️
