The Great Wall surrounding the hamlet, the elevated access roads passing over a stinking garbage dump and a labyrinth leading to the entrance guarded by armed foreign guards creates a Blade Runner Dreamscape in this story running along the fine line between fantasy and reality, a story of deception, fear, death and love. The hamlet conceals an evil secret; a secret protected by the Great Wall.
While jogging with his wife Sophie, the protagonist, Stuart Stuart discovers fifteen dead crows in a glade in the hamlet's woods and stumbles onto a trapdoor which leads deep down into a subterranean laboratory where caged birds are tested with lethal doses of botox. In the research institute on an opposite hill which concocts the botulinum toxin, the French ornithologist, Fran ois-Marie, works together with red-headed Helen, who launches an anti-botox campaign.
