This charming and alarming mystery is a surefire page turner!

It was Christmas Eve, a snowy, blustery evening when the roads seemed to get worse by the minute. Kaye and her parents were on the way to visit Gran. She just hoped Gran wouldn't decide to get one of those fake Christmas trees because that would be just awful. Gran always hid the pickle ornament in the middle of the tree for her to find and if there were only a couple of spindly old branches that would be no fun . . . whoa! The car hit something on the side of the road and began to slide across the road. They had gone off the road. Kaye's Dad, Charles, said they were in the country. "In the middle of blasted nowhere." Kaye suddenly saw a small, pale face outside the window, but she had enough sense to say she saw only a light. It was beckoning her to follow. She tumbled out of the car and followed until she came to a house. The family was very happy to be out of the storm and their unexpected host, Elsa, was glad to have them. The green ghost had disappeared, but that wouldn't be the last of her because she needed Kaye's help. Who, what, when and where were only a few questions that needed to be answered about this little green girl ghost! This mystery was a surefire page turner! The flashbacks were seamless and easy to comprehend and I was anxious to find out why the green ghost needed Kaye. The story was very well written and the ending (which I'm not telling) was startling and heartwarming. If you have a budding sleuth and mystery fan, this Newbery Honor-winning author, Marion Dane Bauer, makes this one an easy choice!
