One sided History!

I do not like this book. First and foremost most a person who writes about history should show a fair and balanced view. The history in the beginning of this book is one side and inaccurate!!! I understand the author was attempting to offer a brief history but at least they should do also accurately. Yes the US did begin the War of 1812. What the author left out was that due to many years of war with France, the British for years had been taking American Sailors serving on American Merchant Ships. Those sailors were through the act of impressment joined the British Royal Navy. Also there were the trade restrictions the British put on America to impede trade with France. The giving of arms to the Native Americans by the British which they hoped would incite or cause conflict between Native Americans and Americans during the Northwestern Expansion! There are many additional reasons why America started the War of 1812. More than needs to be in this review. The author’s style of writing was not that great in my opinion. I was looking for the reasons and the fallout from the explosion that happened between two ships. One was filled and hauling ammunition and other explosives from Halifax to the War in Europe during WWI. I hope by skimming this book I might be able gather some additional factual information. If I had to recommend a book about the Halifax Explosion I would recommend “Curse of the Narrows”. It is a book that stays on topic.
