The Great Alone

I was referred this book by a co-worker .This was my first Kristin Hannah book I have read. It did not disappoint. The building of the relationships in this book were amazing it brought me to tears. I also like how this book in my opinion was more real life based, not the fairytale type book. This will defiantly stay in my kept book shelf.

If you love nature and the outdoors this is for you. The way she writes makes you want to get up and move to Alaska and live off the land. This was a great read and i was sad when I got to the last couple of pages

I bought this book at the extreme “urging” of a friend who said it was so awesome… so did her husband say the same thing. But I said, It’s soooo thick? it is, she said… but it will be so worth it. I am starting to wonder if she is really my friend. It took me two years to read this book. No lie! every time I picked it up and read some pages, I found myself getting more and more depressed. There seemed to be no hope for anyone in this book. When I finally got to the very last chapter, alas, it was about three pages till the end, when something good finally happened but after the beating and depression of the previous pages, it was A MERE tidbit of happiness for the main character?! & there were still so many hurdles ahead of her at that point …I don’t know about you, but I like happy endings, and this book did not fill the bill. Save your money or go buy something else. the end.

It took a few chapters to get into this book but once I did, couldn't put it down. I love everything about it, the characters, the town, the surrounding landscape. Very well written. I still think about this book after reading it a year ago.

I had this book in my shelves months after it arrived, I was questioning my purchase. I recently, yesterday, dug it out and read it. An excellent story of hardship, love, pain, and forgiveness all the necessary qualities of live. I'll look into more books written by Kirsten Hanna.

Once I got to the middle of this fantastic novel, the world around me slipped away…I was in the book, in the story, couldn’t even remember reading it…I was in the story…not a reader! I haven’t finished it yet because reluctantly I had to go to sleep…but I’m picking it up right now. Amazing story. One thing after another……

This book right here is what great stories are all about!! It had me hooked from the beginning until the very last page. An amazing story to say the least!

Bought this book because many of the reviews said they couldn’t put this book down. Agree 100%. Highly recommended it.

This book gave me new insight about those who live in Alaska, separated from the “outside” and the hardships that come with it. Also taps into post war trauma and how families have to rebuild, whatever that may look like. The story line was interesting enough that I read the book quickly although some of it was predictable. I still recommend the book, a great fall/winter read.

i loved this book, i had no idea what was gonna happen next. amazing author i read two more books by her since reading this one.

The things human beings are capable of enduring, amazing!

It took me a couple chapters to get into the book, but once I was able to visualize the landscape and the characters I was hooked. Very well written, with good detail and thought provoking. I loved the relationship between the mother and daughter detailed the way it was. I just found this book very easy to follow, to visualize and it all made sense to me as well as kept my interest the whole time.

I loved Kristin Hannah as a young adult and read many of her books. One or two I loved so much that I read them multiple times over the years since. This one didn't disappoint either and I would definitely recommend it.

I was recommended this book from a avid book reader co-worker and couldn't put it down. Kristin Hannah's story telling is amazing and has become my favorite author. I loved the story, it has love, suspense, heartbreak & you feel for the characters.

I flew through this book! Absolutely couldn't put it down. This is one you'll wish continued on, but all great stories must come to an end. Definitely one to reread and you'll always gain or observe something new with each time.

One of my favorite books for sure. The love that is written throughout this book is very thought provoking in all its twisted, horrible, heartwarming, and suspenseful ways.

I knew that I would love this book, just didn’t know how much! One of the most thought provoking, energizing books I’ve read in a long time. Well worth the read!

“The Nightingale” made me want to read more of Kristen Hannah’s work. But this one wore me out. She is a talented writer & kept me engrossed. Still there were too many too incredible wrong turns so I won’t be submitting to this type emotional torture again.
