But that is the case in "THE GRANDMOTHERS: and Perfect Love ", an extraordinary story of the influence of three remarkable grandmothers in the lives of their grandchildren, and their uphill battle to mitigate the negative influences of their irresponsible children. Janvier Chouteu-Chando takes the reader hand-in-hand through the lives of the characters in their doubts, estrangement, sense of loss, and grip on hope, exposing insights that explain the humanity in us. We end up wondering whether these remarkable ladies are involved in acts of penance or acts of salvation. "THE GRANDMOTHERS: and Perfect Love ", comes after "Dark Shades", and precedes "The Hunger Fire" in the short story collection entitled "Me Before Them".
