A Good Read

I don't understand why some reviewers did not give this book a five star rating. For crying out loud, the book is a biblical fiction and a good read (to boot)! I suggest reading it in conjunction with the Bible (NIV) and Reading Judas: The Gospel of Judas and the Shaping of Christianity by Elaine Pagels and Karen L. King. Great job Mr Archer.

An interesting 'What if...'

This book is an interesting 'What if'. What if Judas's son had written about his life? It explores some history as it's recoreded in sources outside of the bible. It is certainly embelished as well, after all, it is fiction, but it could have happened this way. It's a very good read.

A new perspective

This was a beautiful and moving book. After all everybody thinks Judas was a monster and my opinion has changed after reading this book.

A great "what if" book.

I heard the Author interviewed on the radio and the first thing he wants you to know is that this book is more of a fictional "what if" Judas, his son actually, wrote a Gospell to the Bible. Second the author gets lots of criticism from ignorant religious hypocrits who blast his reasons for writing this book and ironically he is deeply Christian. Third he worked very closely with Professor Francis J Moloney, recognized by most as being the worlds best biblical scholars to aim for an intellegent work of fiction. This book really does read just like another gospell of the bible and certainly not intended to be taken as gospell it is just meant as a fun, almost sci fi (alternate world), kind of read. It has certainly renewed my interest to read the new testament all over again!
