Folk Art Book with Bedtime Poem/Prayer

Bless breakfast made/ by milky light/ when morning/ blows away the night./ Bless cups and pitchers,/ pots and spoons,/ candles and keys,/ the bride and groom./ Bless open windows,/ doors that sing,/ rooms that invite/ the forest in....etc. Poet Nancy Willard has created a nighttime prayer/poem (without God mentioned) illustrated with artfully-arranged photos of her folk art angel creations. It's a beautiful book, but I'm not entirely sure what to make of it. The poem/prayer could serve as a substitute to "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" if you don't like the words to that prayer.

Willard's blessing book is warm and uplifting. My five year-old and I read it together every night as a bedtime prayer. The words and the photos are poetic and whimsical. Charming.
