I am not military so I won't try to analyse the authenticity of this story but I am an avid reader and I LOVED THIS BOOK! Of course it has since been made into a movie but I've always loved stories from the book rather than from the screen. Authors do it so much better than screen writers! With a copyright date of 1980, it is 435 pages of pure suspense. Forget reality. Forget that it's now 2007 and simply enjoy the story these two authors have created for you. I've read it many times and plan to keep it in my private library until the pages crumble from use. Then I'll have to track down another copy to wear out!
