Florrie and Mag Larson live off the land in a rustic cabin on the edge of British Columbia’s coastal society. When the eccentric sisters unintentionally adopt an abandoned baby girl, their world is turned upside down.

The Sunshine Coast

I heard the author of this book on the radio and was intrigued by the setting, having just moved to the Northwest of WA. I found the book to be timeless. The isolation of the Sunshine Coast, the sense of community, and self-reliance needed to live there were described well. The book could have been set anywhere from the late 60's to the present. I wasn't sure until a reference was made about the use of a computer. I enjoyed not knowing during what time it took place and felt strongly for all three female characters, all with different strengths and weaknesses. If you've been to the Sunshine Coast or dream of going there, you'll enjoy this book!
