This one is perhaps classified as juvenile, but that is a bit incorrect. Anyone who has an interest in folk tales, in particular, folk tales from other cultures, will find this a delightful read. This small book consists of six Arabian Folk Tales. They include The Glass Mountain, Ali and the Griffin, The Lion, the Fox and the Bird, Feraz and the Magic Lute, The Rubies of Isfahan and Zeki the Witless. Anyone familiar with tales from this part of the world know of their quality and insightfulness into human nature. These stories are no exception. Jean Russell Larson has done a wonderful job of selection and the black and white drawings by Donald E. Cooke are almost worth the price of the book alone. I was first introduced to stories from this part of the world via Turkey's Tales of Hodja. These are just as delightful. They are excellent for the young but I doubt if there are many adults that can resist their charm. Recommend this one highly.
