Much more abstract than the first one

The second GITS manga is kinda what the second movie was to the first. Much closer to the TV series too.

this is GREAT

I don't care if the format of the pages is not in full comic book page size. I don't care if the story is unusefully intricated and totally ununderstandable (at least for a common human being with only one bachelor....) : Masamune Shirow is THE MASTER and his ART is GREAT. You look at the computer colored pages: they're GREAT. You look at the b & w pages: they're even BETTER! The details and the design is amazing! I hope soon a fully large format b & w pages will be edited!

Shirow's Best Philosophical Work Yet!

This story is centered around one of Motoko's "children" after merging with project 2501. The Main character is Motoko Aramaki, security officer for Posidon Industrial. Readers will see a glimps of older characters from the first GITS book. All in all this book is far more complicated that the first book, but it is worth it.

The Basics

This soft back book is a collection of all the comic books from Ghost In The Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface. For any one who was interested in the series, but do not wish to spend hundreds of dollars locating and collecting the original comic books this is an excellent alternative. Not to mention a great bargain. This paper back IS NOT printed at the original full size of the collector comics. I would have to say it this version is about 1/2 the print size of the original. I had no trouble reading any of the dialog bubbles or artists notes. A word about dark horse. Dark horse is the original us publisher for Ghost In The Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface. They chose to edit the original japan version, and this 'book' version contains many if not all of the same edits as the collector comic. Not to mention a few new edits. The comic reads left to right, like the collector comic. Witch isn't a huge deal, but there are some details the trained eye can recognize, like text in some of the art, being flipped over. I would say more then 50 percent of the comic book is full color art. The comic book include several of the comic covers. As a die hard fan, who owns the original japan version of this comic collection, and the most of the full size us addition, I can happily recommend this comic book.

Exciting, philosophical, scientific, and tons of fun!

Masamune Shirow's works generally center around machines and robots/cyborgs. In his early works, the machines are just there as supporting actors to a typical manga story. Starting with the original Ghost In The Shell manga, Shirow started experimenting and incorporating actual facts about machines, combined with diverse religious and philosophical paradigms. The result is one mind-boggling story of unexplored realms.
