Pubished in 1961, never out of print

THE GASPARILLA COOKBOOK ("Gasparilla" means "Pirate" in Spanish) has never been out of print in nearly sixty years, and adds a nice Cuban touch to Southern, Mexican and other Tampa, Florida influences. Recipes include Picadillo, Pralines, Crawfish & Lobster, Corn Fritters a la the Kapok Tree Inn in Clearwater -- and 48 pie recipes! Hardbound, 300 pages, and well worth having. If you like RIVER ROAD RECIPES or TALK ABOUT GOOD!, you're apt to appreciate this cookbook too.

The best cook book for all receipes.

I have had the Gasparill cookbook since 1968. The pages are well worn and my book is taped togather. My husband loves the lemon pie receipe on page 256. I have made it with other fruit also and it is still good.

Favorite Cookbook of Mom's from Childhood

This is my favorite cookbook of my mothers from my childhood. As a kid, I remember being awed by the pirate on the cover when she would bring it out. My favorite recipe to make is "Mrs. Jamerson's Chocolate Fudgies" -- they are heavenly little soft chocolate cookies with pecans that melt in your mouth and are easy to make for holidays and potlucks. The Banana Bread recipe is a classic in our house also.

Gasparilla Cookbook

Great "real" recipes. The book has been around for a couple of generations with tried and true recipes! It's loaded with yummy tastes of Tampa and its spanish heritage and many other recipes - 712 in all! Recipes are simple and ingredients easy to locate at the local grocery store. A great product from our local Junior League of Tampa that helps fund their community projects.
