Exploring the science of gardening, "The Secret World of Gardens" teaches readers why plants respond better to watering at certain times of the day, how to improve the quality of the soil, and what makes some "weeds" desirable additions to the garden. Witty, chatty, and filled with serious science, this lighthearted book takes an informative look at horticulture. Illustrations.
For the scientifically challenged like me, you cannot beat this little book for learning about botany. Did I say "botany"? I mean gardening, i.e., applied botany. Amato writes like a breeze, teaching the reader everything he or she needs to know to make plants grow. The text is simple and concise, knowledge a plenty. No botanical bookstore should be without this gem. Teachers, here's your companion text for any class garden!!!!
This is a GREAT book for a gardener

I enjoyed this book very much. It has a lot of facts and is very intertaining too. I learned a lot, like Snapdragon are from the Mediterranean, which I did not know. If you want to try experiments and learn a lot about science in the garden, buy this book.
