Paris during World War ll, and America after the war.

Another Very Touching Story, By this Fabulous Writer ! The story takes place in Paris during the Nazi invasion, and all the hardships that the Characters in the story had to live through and endure. The basic back ground takes place in an assisted living home, when the 93 Amelie O'Connor, gets a visitor from her deceased husbands ex- fiancee, her name is Kat, and she has come, many years later to finally hear the true story that's haunted her, her whole life. She has learned that she has a reoccurrence of her cancer from years ago,and this time, is not treatable, and is given 6mos or a little more to live. Kat wants to die with a peaceful heart and mind. She wants to find out HOW Amelie, managed to steal Jack's heart, her true love, that he broke their engagement, and he returned to their town of Wedding Tree, Married to Amelie, and with a baby . Amelie, has agreed to tell Kat the whole story, all the truths, but she needs to tell it her way, without interruption, and to really make her understand the horrors of war, the Nazi's, the starvation, the beatings, and senseless deaths, and all the lives that were lost, of her entire Family, and her dearest friend she had grown up with since a little girl, and her entire family also, who were like second parents to Amelie. She tells her of the hatred of the Nazi's, and how her and her girlfriend,Yvette, joined the French Resistance, to spy and gather information to help France and the cause. She explains how she meet Jack, and how in the beginning, she created a story, that Jack believed the baby was his friends, who had just been killed by a German sniper, taking a bullet, that should have hit and killed Jack. Out if guilt, Jack believes Amelie's story, and they figure out a way to bring her to America, with the baby, who is really her girlfriends Yvette, who died a few months after her baby was born, from the Flu, that was spreading through France. On her death bed, Yvette, has made Amelie, swear to raise Elise as her own, and to bring her to America no matter what it takes, and out of France. SO begins the story of how Amelie meets Jack, makes up a story, So he will help her get to America. The whole entire story is absolutely heartbreaking, the Characters are memorable, and touching, some of the events that happened are true historical events, that went on in France, against the Jewish people. I loved the story from beginning to end, and wish this series went on forever, unfortunately from what I can see, it's the last. Absolutely love this writer, a wonderful story, a must read !!! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars !
