A wonderful first book by an African American author

I highly recommend The First Fig Tree. Vivian Glover is a great storyteller, and the words flow easily from chapter to chapter. If you enjoy works by authors such as Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, and Bebe Moore Campbell, you are sure to appreciate this book. The story is set in the south, and seeing the relationship develop between the great-grandmother and grandchild brought tears to my eyes, as I remembered times with my maternal and paternal grandmothers. It may be out-of-print, but I urge you to try to get a copy of this book; you will most certainly want it for your own personal library of Black authors. I am looking forward to more stories from Ms. Glover.
