The Gospel in the Pentateuch

This is one of my favorite books. While the book is called "The Everlasting Covenant" it spends most of its time in the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible). What I found amazing was how the author was able to perceive so many gospel concepts in these books. Often the author would assert some gospel principle from the text, and I would think to myself "Nah, that's not there. Does it really say that?" and check, and sure enough, Moses had written just what Waggoner said he did. The author draws many rich and precious lessons from the stories of Abraham and the other patriarchs, and from the nation of Israel. The print is easy to read, in the version illustrated here.

The Everlasting Covenant

This book is subtitled: "A Series of Forty-seven Articles Published in The Present Truth magazine (May 1896-May 1897), which preceeded the publication of Waggoner's book The Everlasting Covenant". From the book's back cover: "This book is a treasure that has lain almost forgotten for over a century. Many around the world have hungered to see it in print as "a most precious message" that in a unique way makes the Gospel become exceedingly Good News. Although by training a physician, the author came to love the Bible idea that God's covenant is His one-sided promise of salvation "unto all and upon all who believe." This vision led him to abandon a lucrative medical career to become a soul-winning evangelist. Undoubtedly Waggoner's masterpiece written for common people to understand, this book makes clear how the new covenant "abounds much more" in grace than all the alluring sin the devil can invent. Best of all, the individual who comprehends what is embedded in God's new but everlasting covenant of grace walks on air forevermore."
