The Enchanting Rose

I always enjoyed making my own little flip books when I was a child, so Brady's corner use for the flip books has always been a neat feature. This book goes even a bit further - you watch both sides as you flip the corners - it's like a cartoon flip book in widescreen! Really neat - and as always, the book keeps me smiling and feeling more normal as I identify with Rose and the family life she enjoys.

With the hand-off of Rose from Pat Brady to Don Wimmer, a few of the old standbys - Vickie the Biker and Pasquale's guardian angel in battle mode, especially - seem a bit over-used, and it would be nice to see a little bit more of the simple, everyday humor the strip shows at its best. That said, there are some fresh twists on the stock sequences, and this collection is, as always, filled with sweetness and fun. Rose fans will enjoy, though those who are trying to win converts to the strip should offer an older collection as an introduction for those not familiar with Rose.
