I was introduced to this book through CDF. I used it for a training of college mentors this year, and it was a big hit.
Outstanding

I am teacher in a relatively small rural school district. Our student population is not very diverse. I bought this book because one of my students was feeling alone, left out, and different. As I read the story to my class, I could visibly see her and the other students making the connections. That precious little girl began to sit straighter and prouder in her seat, her head came up and we made eye contact. As I continued to read the story to my class, it was difficult for me to keep my voice strong and audible. This book changed us all. Buy it for yourself, buy it for others. You will never be the same.
Invaluable! Contributed greatly towards my success....

As an African American author, who felt the sting of discrimination in my formative years, I solidified my desire to finally tell my story via fiction for children after I read this book and three others. I am so enamored of this one that I took it with me on my first interview for my OWN book. It was never returned which meant I purchased another. I wanted the reviewer to see how skillfully it was written..... No tirades, drum rolls or harsh rhetoric.... just a basic thought of self-esteem.I don't know which means more, the book or Mychal Wynn himself, who embodies genuine commitment and dedication to the embetterment of children. Actually, they're symbiotic.BUY this book, READ this book, REFER it to friends, relatives and associates. I would say LOAN it, but it might not be returned. Despite the technological advances of today... unfortunately, there are still eagles who think they are chickens!
