Salinger and Gross provide an insider's account of the political and managerial pressures on a foreign correspondent. The tension felt by a reporting soloist is wrapped in a very entertaining spy story. The spy story is framework for two famous and seasoned writers (Gross and Salinger) to bring readers an education of what it is like for a correspondent to work on an important international story and to endure the conspiracies of governments and companies to manipulate the ultimate telling of the story. There is little to quibble with in this book if you read it for real story. The writing style is obviously by authors of the highest intelligence.
