A fine catalogue with three substantial essays. The first essay examines the links between spiritualism and the telegraph (i.e.: long-distance communication via tapping), and the second examines ghosts in contemporary cinema. The last essay is by the exhibition's curator, and briefly examines the portrayal of ghosts in turn-of-the-century (2000) fine art before a more lengthy discussion of the works in the exhibition. The catalogue then contains large well-reproduced images from the exhibition, ranging from historical to contemporary examples. Images are shown one-per-page. A fascinating and inspiring selection of pictures I thought. Although, as with all such survey shows, one wonders if a few of the contemporary and 'ironic' works will stand the test of time.
