The remarkable author of this winning book was just 10 when she wrote it--128 pages of fiction that read just like a private summer journal. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I absolutely LOVED this book! It's about a girl (Prudence) and all her excitment in the summer when she's 11. From secret admirer notes to worring about going to a new school. I read it when I was recently in the hospital. I had nothing else to do and so I was looking for some books to read. When I started reading this book I could barely put it down. I thought that it was neat how the story was about different events instead of just one major event. I would definitely love to read this book again!

The Diary of a Chickabiddy Baby by Emma Kallok was a awesome book! It was about a girl named Prudence who kept a diary. The diary was quite realistic and I enjoyed this book very much.
Captivating, insightful character depictions, fun to read!

This book was purchased for my 12 year old, and I read it on a recent trip. Unable to put it down, I read it cover to cover even after the airplane had landed. Great book for parents and kids to read together, or seperately to discuss. Astute observations on human nature, fun depictions of the various characters...even minor ones (I loved especially the brief appearance of Pru's silly grandparents, Mither and Dither)...and healthy attitude toward adolescent girls' blooming interest in boys make this a pleasant and important book for middle school age kids...Look forward to reading more from this author.

I read this book and absolutely loved it! I just wanted to say hi to Emma and tell her to keep on writing, and publishing more books! You go girl! I know Emma Kallok and have heard and read some of her other "works of art". But this is quite an accomplishment for a 12 year old girl in middle school. The book was fresh, realistic, very funny, and extreeeeeeemely detailed. A lot of the parts I could easily relate to. I am writing books and just seeing Emma get her own book published, for the whole world to see and enjoy, is wonderful encouragement, whether she knows it or not. This has kept me going because she did it, and I know I can too. Thanks Emma- for a GREAT book beyond comparison, and your support. ~Lindsey
A terrific read!

The daily observations of 10-year-old Prudence Brinker (a.k.a. "Chickabiddy Baby") that she writes in notebook after notebook under a magnolia bush in her backyard make for delightful reading. Her parents are embarrassing, her friends Mouse, Iris, and Austen can prove frustrating , and life events often signal new emotions. Emma Kallok's writing should appeal to those readers around her age and to those of us who have "been there" decades ago!
