Review

Lucy Firr is a stunning beauty but watch it that you don't make her mad. She has a temper like the devil, which just happens to be her father. Lucy makes a deal with her father that if she brings him a soul that in exchange, she wants her freedom. He agrees. Lucy arrives in the town of Redemption. There she sets her sights on Jed Caine. Jed is still trying to figure out why he is even attending a wife's action. He doesn't want a wife but he does need someone to help take care of Maggie; his brother's wife. Lucy convinces Jed that she is the woman for him. Lucy has played many parts before but never wife. This will be a new experience. As much as Jed desires Lucy, he knows that the best place for her is far away from him. Lucy is used to getting her way and that includes having men fall for her charms. Lucy does love a challenge. She will do everything she can to claim Jed's soul but is she ready for someone to claim her heart? I read Dancing with the Devil, the second book that features Deacon, Lucy's brother. I feel in love with the story so much that I just had to go out and buy The Devil's Daughter right away. The in your face, sarcastic, laugh out loud comedy that Laura Drewry brings to her characters as well as her books...is why I fallen so hard for them. Who knew the devil's children had a great sense of humor. I had a smile on my face when Jed informed Lucy that she would need to start a fire using buffalo chips, as I can remember as a little girl, going out and collecting cow pies as well as buffalo chips to start my own fire, when camping. I can't wait to read more by Laura Drewry.

A Delightful Paranormal Western with a Touch of Romance

Lucy Firr, the Devil's daughter arrives on earth with a purpose. She plans on securing three souls in exchange for her freedom from Hell. It's 1891 and not odd for a man to choose his wife at a bride auction. Lucy is determined to go home with Jed Caine. He's young, good-looking and she believes she can seduce him with no trouble. Once she has his soul, how difficult could it be to take a pregnant woman's soul and an infant's soul? However, she didn't plan on Jed going after her heart. Jed had planned on marrying a sensible woman who would help him take care of his pregnant sister-in-law and help him around the homestead. Lucy doesn't know how to cook or clean and his sister-in-law is afraid of her. What the hell did he get himself into? To top it off, Lucy is beautiful and he wants her, but first he's determined they form a friendship before they fall into bed. If life couldn't be anymore difficult, Lucy's half-brother, Deacon arrives on the scene to play devil's advocate. Ms. Drewry has written a delightful paranormal western with a touch of romance. Lucy and Jed's tale is a sweet venture of discovery as they each realize what their hearts truly want. Lucy and Jed's banter will have you chuckling. Though Lucy is a spitfire from hell, she's also naïve about relationships, giving her an adoring charm. Jed is a rugged cowboy thinking love in a marriage isn't necessary, but he discovers without it, his life would be a soulless venture. I truly enjoyed this wonderful story and look forward to reading Deacon's tale, "Dancing with the Devil." Reviewer: Karen Michelle Nutt PNR Paranormal Romance

devilishly delightful paranormal western romance

Tired of living at home, Lucy Firr persuades her dad to let her move out; however he demands payment for granting her freedom. Lucy agrees to deliver three souls to her father, the devil in exchange for her moving out of Hell. Lucy arrives in 1891 Redemption at a bride auction attended by Jed Caine, who is not seeking a spouse though he needs a wife. Lucy persuades the recalcitrant homesteader she is the one for the job. Jed agrees and marries her so that Lucy can help his pregnant sister on their spread. Lucy knows the way to Jed's soul is his libido, which starts to her surprise with his heart not that other bloody organ. However, Lucy falters whenever Jed tenderly looks at her. When her sire sends her brother Deacon to remind her that default means moving home under the pitchfork of their irate father, Lucy must decide between his soul and her heart. THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER is a devilishly delightful paranormal western romance starring the literally beauty from Hell and the handsome angelic paragon. Her brain and brother demand she do him wrong while her heart and (don't tell her papa as he has a fiery temper) soul plead with her to perform a self sacrifice and pay the consequences. The story line is fast-paced as it combines Gay Nineties bawdiness with historical tidbits to anchor time and place. Fans will appreciate this enjoyable tale while this reviewer envisions Mae West and Cary Grant returning to star in Laura Dewry's devilish debut. Harriet Klausner
