I liked the book very much...the artwork was good but not great. I liked the artwork on the Dark Elf graphic novels better I still would recommend this series. I also suggest reading the books..they're even better.
Absolutely Tremendous

This is by far one of the greatest Fantasy novels I've ever read and easily the start to Bob's best series to date. The book series is much more mature than any of Bob's previous work and the fight scenes are top notch. You develop a deep caring for the characters in the book and Salvatore fortunately doesn't mind killing them off. If you are a fan of fast paced Fantasy, than book is a must read.
My all time favorite, The Demonwars

Being book one of the First Demonwars Trilogy, this book starts a 7 book cycle of the best series I've ever read. Salvatore sets up his own world in grand style with his trademark battle scenes, but something more. He give us charecters who are flawed, yet more human than anything I've seen before. THe good guys are not all good, nor are the bad one's neccisarily all bad. The depth of the charecters and detail of the world are striking and powerful. I can't recommend this one enough.

This book is definitely worth both the buy and the read. I got the book at Wal*Mart(in all honesty) one day while I had nothing to do, and I was already a fan of Salvatore. So I bought it, and though I am very well read, this book almost immediately made it to the top of my list; definitely in my Top 5 list.Giving you a summary won't help much, but I can tell you what I liked about it. Though the character of Elbryan seems like your typical hero, nothing special, he has more of a story than most. Elven trained, as opposed to having one master swordsman as a trainer, Elbryan becomes a supreme fighter in the world of Corona. The Demon Dactyl, the antihero, isn't as original as most enemies. But, with that overlooked, he still is quite imposing. The incorporation of gemstones as a means of magic was very original and made every situation that much more interesting. The love story has been told, yes, but not through the light of Salvatore. With the other aspects of the story, the love aspect differs from most, and developes into an intruiging story in itself.Overall, the book is better than most I've read, ranging from The Lord of the Rings to Drangonlance. It has everything you could ever want and then some. But if you buy into people who claim it's nothing compared to the Dark Elf series, you're missing out. Of course it's not the same as the Dark Elf series, it creates different and more interesting elements, and in my opinion, beats out Drittz. And it's only the beginning.
It's only the beginning..........

This book starts R.A. Salvatore's Demon Wars series. It is an excellent series. It is his own world and he does wonderful things with it. There are many unique elements to these books and it is much more mature reading than his Dark Elf series.I believe that this series continues to get better with each book. It is worth starting the series, to get to Mortalis, which is one of Salvatore's best. Each book is a great read on it's own, but the series also continually builds up the story, which will be culminated in the eagerly awaited book, Immortalis. Whether you are a fan of Salvatore because of the Drizzt novels, or are new to his books, you can't miss with the series. It is his best.
