America's other freedom fighters

This book profiles three of the great Native American heroes of North America, and how they lead their respective nations against the forces of encroaching white civilization. The three are Osceola of the Florida Seminoles, Cochise of the Navajo in Arizona, and Tecumseh, who tried uniting many tribes in the region between the Rockies and the Appalachians. Each of the three is presented as a human being with families, worries, aspirations, and downfalls. Each came to realize that the future of their nations depended on their actions. The book provides the biography of all three from birth to death, and highlights their major accomplishments and failures. The book is appropriate for kids from age 6 - 13, with easy to read text. The book is nonfiction, and the facts presented are historically true whenever possible. The tone of the text is quite impartial and objective; hence no bashing of America and white people. I found this to be a good history book and worthy reading for all young people.
