The Deadliest of Friends.

I actually found this book in my basement downstairs. It is just about 10 years old, but it is still worth reading. For one, the book is a light read, being only 143 pages. What the short length of this book does is that it gets to the point rather quickly. Rather everything being rushed in such a small space like I imagined, Mary Main, the author did actually spend time on things other than plot. Unlike a few writers, the traits of the characters are dispersed throughout the story rather than crammed in the beggining. The plot is basic, but that is what makes this story attracting to the senses. The plot wihout spoilers is essentially this: A 15-year-old girl named Megan and her brother return to a resort/lodge that highly resembles a Norse mansion. She meets up with an acquaintance named Darren and learns of a shocking past event that occured to a friend of Darren and hers. Everyone thinks Darren was responsible for his deceased friend's death, except for Megan, who remains unstaisfied. The only thing keeping Darren out of jail is the lack of evidence. But as things heaten, and people start telling what happened, Darren is suspected more, leading Megan to question her own safety. There is a cat amoung the pigeons. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars. I almost knocked one star off because I will miss the characters that much.

READ THIS ONE!

Mary Main brings her characters and settings to life! She has a natural gift of weaving you through the story, all the while keeping you in tight suspence. Megan's friend dies in a tragic accident that is later discovered to be homicide. You won't want to put the book down until the killer is apprehended. (Another of Mary Main's suspenseful books that kept me on the edge of my chair is,"Tower of Evil" - an ominous tale of terror.)
