The Deadliest Dinosaurs

This 32-page book is another concise, fact-filled title in the terrific "Meet the Dinosaurs" series by Don Lessem. Perfect for young dino fans, this title focuses on the raptors: megaraptor, microraptor, pyroraptor, utahraptor, variraptor, velociraptor, dromaeosaurus, and deinonychus. The "Meet the Dinosaurs" titles follow the same formula: each includes an intro to the featured dino species (with pronunication guide for parents!), a timeline showing when each species lived, a map showing where fossils have been found, and a two-page vignette starring each dino species. The books are heavily illustrated and perfect for read-alouds, or for dino fans reading on their own. The text isn't meaty enough for kids writing reports, but John Bindon's illustrations are detailed and exciting. Lessem includes many of the lesser-known dinos in his books, so even older kids might not mind the simple text just so they can visit their more obscure dinosaur favorites. My 5 year-old son loves this series!
