Just got the book in the mail I'm just happy that it finally arrived thank you

I love Heather Graham's books she goes back in time and mystery and suspense and it's really really good

An Intense Mystery - with twist I didn't see coming....

This book is an amazing mystery that has ghost, kidnapping, murder, romance and mysteries of life. Leslie Macintyre is an anthropologist who can talk to ghost, even more so since her fiancé death. She is now working back in New York and staying in the same historical home where the explosion that killed her fiancé and three others. Leslie with the help of friends starts trying to unravel the mystery of her fiancé death and the missing positions and social worker. This book was intense and what an emotional roller coaster, but it's worth the ride.

Full of Suspense

I recently "discovered" Graham as an author this year and I love her books and stories. This one does not disappoint!

A Paranormal Pleasure

This is not your typical paranormal romance novel. Don't believe me? Wait until you read the refreshing, yet surprising ending. Does it have plenty of romantic elements? Of course it does. This is a Heather Graham novel after all, but I think this story would even appeal to those readers who would normally snub their noses at anything that has romance in the description. This story has everything I look for in a great novel: Intrigue, suspense, quick pace, vivid descriptions (that don't drag the story to a crawl) and a strong character driven plot. I found the book so captivating I lost track of time, and subsequently a fair amount of sleep. It's easy to immerse yourself in a world filled with such unforgettable characters.

a breathtaking romantic suspense with a strong paranormal thread

Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques Ever since she nearly dead in an accidental explosion one year ago that took the life of her fiance Leslie MacIntyre's already apparent sixth sense has been stronger. She sees ghosts all the time, which helps her in her career as an archaeologist since they can lead her to all manner of fascinating finds. When she returns to NYC for a dig down the road from Hastings House, the site of the explosion, strange things start to happen. She starts to see her dead fiance Matt, in her dreams, who gives her warnings of a great danger she faces. Joe Connolly is a PI, and look-alike cousin to Matt, investigating the disappearance of socialite Genevieve O'Brien in NYC when he meets up with Leslie. Soon he begins to suspect that the disappearance of Genevieve is linked to a string of prostitute disappearances that Matt was writing about, right before he died. Joe and Leslie begin to suspect the explosion was not an accident and that, in fact, Matt was the intended target. They also fear it is linked to the disappearances. They team up to get to the bottom of things and soon it appears Leslie may be the next victim. The Dead Room is a taut, suspenseful paranormal read. Heather Graham is a master story teller and knows exactly how to lure her readers in before trapping them with an unstoppable story. As answers are found, even more questions develop, keeping me guessing all the way to the shocking finale. I found myself continuously changing my mind about who the real villain was and how the various crimes are related. The love story of Leslie and Matt is very poignant, with his regular appearance in her dreams providing some of the most romantic moments of the entire book. Additional depth to their story is shown through Matt's desperation to protect Leslie, even in ghost form, from the dangers surrounding her. As Leslie and Joe's relationship grows and changes through their partnership to solve the mystery, we see intense conflict as all three, ghost or human, have to come to terms with these new romantic developments. I do admit however, I was initially annoyed at the relationship growing between Joe and Leslie. I hate when characters fall for each other just because one half of the couple looks like a past love of the other half. In the beginning, I thought that is where Heather Graham was taking the story but it quickly becomes apparent Leslie's attraction to Joe is because of who he is, not because he looks like Matt. The best part of The Dead Room however, is the ending. It is completely stunning not because of the mystery so much as because it is a completely non-traditional ending. The conclusion was totally unexpected but fits the story and the characters brilliantly. If readers are looking for a breathtaking romantic suspense with a strong paranormal thread, then The Dead Room is the perfect fit. I hope everyone is as completely surprised by he ending as I was, since that totally makes the book. (c)

Outstanding!

Okay let me start off by saying that anything Heather Graham, aka Shannon Drake, writes in the paranormal field I love. She is one of two writers that brought me back to reading after almost a 6 year absence, the other being Maggie Shayne. Now I must admit I read the reviews before I purchased this book so I knew ahead of time that the ending was questionable. All I can say is thats the reason I stopped reading for several years, still rarely read basic romance books, was because they were all the same..ie..man meets woman, they fall in love, conquer one or two obstacles and then get married and have kids..end of story. I got to the point were my imagination was actually TRYING to make me go places that the books werent taking me..One word..BORING! Then I started reading books by Heather Graham. I absolutly love an author who is willing to take a risk and write an ORIGINAL story! For me this was a 2 day read and only 2 days because I had to work, otherwise it would have been a one day read. I won't rehash the story line because that has been done so many times allready..hopefully often enough so that perspective readers realize the original plot is well worth the chance that they will like it. I absolutely loved it and honestly thought it ended the way it should. One more great book by Heather Graham. Happy Reading!!
