In this riveting new installment of New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series, Gideon, keeper of the Demon of Lies, fights to uncover the truth... Forced to his knees in agony whenever he speaks the truth, Gideon can recognize any lie--until he captures Scarlet, a demon-possessed immortal who claims to be his long-lost wife. He doesn't remember the beautiful female, much less wedding--or bedding--her. But he wants to...almost as much as he wants her. But Scarlet is keeper of Nightmares, too dangerous to roam free. A future with her might mean ultimate ruin. Especially as Gideon's enemies draw closer--and the truth threatens to destroy all he's come to love....
I have to say, Darkest Lie really did it for me, after the lackluster release of short stories I was hoping for a whole lot more. A whole lot more was delivered with this intense tale of Gideon, who can't tell anything but lies, and Scarlet who bears nightmares. Not only was Gideons inner turmoil believeable, but the hot and steamy romance was out of the park! The plot pacing was dead on, keeping those pages turning, while still giving a some intertwining 'set up' plot lines room to grow. Can't wait for the next book!!
Enjoyed this one too!

Gideon has always been the most interesting character to me. In his story,.. yes, it does talk a minute to get used to "Gideon's language, so I DO NOT recommend someone new to the series to start here. However, for the rest of us who have followed the story from the start, it was great!! I agree with a fellow reviewer who said they loved the way Gideon responded to Scarlett regarding Steel. Heartbreaking and sweet. The way Scarlett speaks to Gideon in "his language"...wonderful. PLEASE Ms. Showalter...are you really going to make us wait until spring 2011? I want the next book now!!! LOL.
Really liked it!

I LOVED reading Gideon speak and how Scarlet would sometimes speak it back to him - especially towards the end. Twisting story line with a lot of other stuff intertwined, but all the Lords of the Underworld books are...hence the need to sometimes look at the glossary at the back of the book. I'd definitely recommend for continuing Lord of the Underworld fans. If you haven't tried the series yet, start at the beginning - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Nightmares and Lies

Nightmares and Lies together at last! I adored this book! Gideon keeper of lies is unable to speak a truth without serious physical pain. Scarlet keeper of nightmares claims Gideon is her husband. Unable to remember such a thing Gideon takes Scarlet to question her. They take a trip down her memory lane including fightin with Gods and hunters. Aeron, Amun and William go to Hell to rescue the demon Legion. We learn more about the Lords past and more about Amun keeper of Secrets. I love Gideon speak, I admire the work it must have taken to say the opposite of everything he means. It must have taken a lot of work! Gideon and Scarlet's pull to eachother and chemistry is electric. I really liked their story and the overall Lords tale. There was a lot more learned about the Gods in this book. This is such an outstanding series. Strider keeper of defeat plays with the hunters that leaves you waiting for what happens next.
Just as good as the rest!

I was initially scared that I wouldn't be able to read/enjoy this book because of the "gideon speak". In previous books I had trouble with his dialog. I did have a liitle trouble with this book. I had to re-read often to make sure I read correctly. The plot is amazing and heartwrenching; especially for Amun. I'm excited about his book coming next. As always, GEna Showalter, gives us an exciting read and makes us fall in loive with her characters.
