The Consultant: A Novel of Computer Crime

Bought this when it first came out years ago. Also saw the tv adaptation in the UK (a series) which was very faithful to the book itself. A great little yarn about a top-level computer consulant who is hired by a big bank to run an audit and verify that all is okay. Needless to say that's not the end of it... however, I won't divulge any spoilers. Well-written and with lots of tension at times, this is a fun read and a great little piece of fiction. Compelling characters too. The story may be a little dated today (the consultant uses dial-up on a time-share system) but otherwise all is very plausible IMO.
