My dad bought this book for the drills. We work on the drills together. He didn't know what drills to do to help me with some of my weaker skills. This book helped.
Easy Drills & Plans that Work - Fun Read

When our regular youth league basketball coach quit because of illness the coaching job was passed to me. I'm a big basketball player/fan with limited coaching experience, so you can imagine my relief when I discovered Celtics Coach John Carroll's new book. Coach Carroll's book is fun to read and it's illustrated with lots of pictures and straightforward diagrams. We've been practicing with Coach Carroll's easy to practice drills and our team has dramatically improved on the fundamental basics like passing, shooting and rebounding. There are some really great drills that help the kids understand and play superior offense and defense. I like the book because it makes basketball practice fun for the players and easy for me.
Great for coaches and players

As the father of a varsity player, I was able to use many of the drills and techniques to help my son improve his game. As Coach Carroll says, "Perfect practice makes perfect." At the high school level, players need continuous practice--not just when their coach has it. Not only will this book help those who are coaching the game, but it will help improve every basketball player who wants to move his game to the next level.

I was looking for a gift for our son's basketball coach and I bought this, not expecting much. They cover everything from specific drills to mental confidence. I was impressed with the amount of information and it's readability. It is a "can't go wrong" purchase. I recommend it highly.
Outstanding!

As a coaching guide, this one's above the rest. A great book to read at home and take to the gym: compact, clearly laid out, readable, nice photos of girls and boys at practice. Addresses the needs and mindset of KIDS right up-front, from appropriate size equipment, to length of practice (i.e., attention span), recognizing the importance of transitions between drills, and inventing a quiet sign to save your voice. Fun is not forgotten, either. In fact, it's a priority, along with mastering the basics. A very effective collaboration between the two authors: coach and writer, husband and wife, parents of a basketball player. It's clear they are as passionate about the development of young players as the physics of ball handling. And, not least, here are ways to turn the coaching experience into something effective and satisfying for those who dare to take it on!
