Joke books like this are an excellent inducement to get children to read

When my daughter was young, I had a library of joke books like this. They were the generator of an enormous number of giggles from her and patient acceptance on my part. She would read the jokes and then challenge me to come up with the punch line. After I would fail to do so, she would read it to me and often laugh hysterically. Then it would be off to the next joke. Some of the jokes in this book are: What do you say when your library book is overdue? Fine! What food do music teachers like best? Drumsticks Why did the student bring a pair of scissors to school? She wanted to cut class. The joke books that she read and bored me to death with were an excellent way to get my daughter to enjoy reading. While I had to suffer through the jokes, books like this are a very good way to encourage children to read.
