A must read

This book is a must have for every serious Christian who desires a deeper, powerful prayer life. It will bless you & is full of precious pearls of wisdom. I've given this book as a gift several times & those who have read have been blessed by it. I read a chapter daily as a devotional. This book will be a blessing.

Best book on prayer you become excited to spend time in prayer thank God

All People can read this book non Christian and Christians also EM Bounds addresses the power and purpose of communicating with God outside of where he gained his information on prayer nothing I have read so far has come close

Deep and Thorough

This is a very deep thought provoking book. I use it more as a devotional then a read through. It uses old time English and one must really think about each sentence and what the author is trying to say. I'm not saying it's not worth buying-it is with nuggets of gold enclosed, but put your boots on to wade through.

I'm an E.M. Bounds fan

This is actually a collection of books that Bounds wrote on prayer. It's all good. I just wish the book weren't pink.

This one is for keeps!

EM Bounds starts his book thus: "The prayers of God's saints are the capital stock in heaven by which Christ carries out His great work upon the earth. Great throes and mighty convulsions in the world have come about as a result of these prayers. The earth is changed, revolutionized; angels move on more powerful, more rapid wings; and God's policy is shaped when the prayers of His people are more numerous and more efficient." Or as John Wesley would say: "God does nothing except in answer to prayer." When I bought this book, I wasn't sure if it would be readable, having been written by someone who was born in 1835. But the English is highly modern and readable, and its truths, Oh! so penetrating and insightful. I never knew there was so much to write or teach about on prayer, but all 622 pages are rich in insights on why prayer matters. There is a chapter on "Prayer that gets results", another on "Prayer that is persistent", a third on "Prayer and Spiritual Warfare", and another on "God's need for people who pray". If we believe that God does nothing except in answer to prayer, we realize what a privilege and responsibility He has vested upon us to advance His kingdom and pray His will on earth into being. EM Bounds encourages us in this partnership with God in a systematic, passionate and deeply anointed way. Despite my vast collection of Christian literature, if I were to take three books onto a desert island, the shortlist currently stands as such: (1) The Bible (2) John Piper's "The Pleasures of God" and (3) EM Bounds on Prayer. This one is definitely for keeps!

A Great Compilation of Bounds' Books on Prayer Life

For almost a century Edward McKendree Bounds' (1835-1913) books on prayer have been classic works, stimulating and inspiring Christians to develop a fuller prayer life and become prayer warriors. A forceful writer and deep thinker, Bounds spent the last nineteen years of his life reading, writing, and praying. He rose at 4 a.m. daily for many years, and was indefatigable in his study of the Bible. As breathing is a physical reality to us, so prayer was a reality for Bounds. He took the biblical command "pray without ceasing" almost as literally as animate nature takes the law of the reflex nervous system, which controls our breathing.Because Bounds so diligently practiced what he preached, we was able to capture the essence of prayer, and his works live on to call today's Christians to higher discipleship and an energetic, God-devoted prayer life.
