Charlotte Aldridge has been raised by her doting grandfather and when they attend a holiday house party hosted by the Barringer's it is with the understand that her grandparent hopes to solidify a match between her and Edward Barringer. She is not going to allow this to happen unless of course she is attracted to the man. When she finally comes face to face with the handsome Edward and shares a bone melting kiss with him while on the hunt for Yule decorations she comes to believe that she has fallen in love with the handsome lord. But what she doesn't realize is that the feelings are not wholly returned and Edward is not in the market for wife especially one so young. This hurt teaches her a lesson and she vows to keep her heart safe from any man again. But six years later and during the holiday season she and Edward meet once again and this time the man is not going to make the same mistake twice. He wants Charlotte and what he wants is what he is going to get...maybe. Ms. Basso has penned a sweet holiday romance. Edward and Charlotte are very likeable protagonists and their romance is at turns sensual and sweet. Readers may be turned off by Charlotte's strong character traits in the beginning. Her spoiled and self assured nature is not often found in characters of historical romance. This adds actually to the whole plot of the story so readers she not give up on her. This is an entertaining light read that will put readers into the holiday mood.
