Catches Your Heart - Modern Day Romance

The Catch of Conard County is part of the Silhouette Romance series, "The World's Most Eligible Bachelors" fun series of hot, hunky, and wealthy men. CoCC is the 12th novel in Rachel Lee's fantastically popular "Conard County" series of romance novels set in Wyoming. This one starts out with the latest edition of fictitious "Prominence" Magazine's listing of the world's most eligible wealthy bachelors including Conard County's own son, 39 year old genuine cowboy, Jeff Cumberland, owner of the Bar C ranch. In keeping with more of the modern day romances, Jeff is a self-made millionaire, having created his wealth from his own diligence and industry. Sent to photograph genuine Western cowboys is our heroine, died-in-the-wool New Yorker, Manhattanite Harriet Breslin. They clash a little bit at the beginning, not so much to create romantic sparks, but rather to diminish the importance of his wealth. By so doing, Ms. Lee demonstrates from the get go that Cumberland is a down-to-earth, hard working, diligent and caring man. Yes, many characteristics of masculinity which modern day women still find tremendously attractive in a man for romance and marriage. Ms. Lee throws our hero and heroine together with a mystery thriller background with modern day horse rustlers robbing bovine from the Bar C. This creates a marvelously plot rich story for the back drop for their romance which stretches out to 245 pages in a quite satisfying manner, not just 150 pages that raced to throw them together. Fans of the Conard County series will recognize Sheriff Nate Tate whose romance is featured in Point of No Return as well as The City Diner's own beloved town curmudgeon, Maude. Part of what is so satisfying and fulfilling about "The Catch of Conard County" is that Harriet is a modern day career woman, and Jeff is attracted to career women, and is not just looking to snag a career woman off the romance market and then get her to completely change her ways into being wife, mother, cook, housewife and give up all of her career. It's refreshing to find a modern romance set so romantically where they are to become life partners, not have her life become subsumed into his. Both Jeff and Harriet must take emotional risks to grow and to risk loving each other and to make their relationship work, which the modern reader can relate to. What a wonderful mind and heart vacation from your normal day life or weekend errands and work. While we may not all want to rush to move to Wyoming, with Rachel Lee, we can just go visit in our hearts and minds to Conard County "Where Wyoming hearts ring true...."
