So good!

She writes delightful mystries! Ten pages in and her characters are fully fleshed and I am utterly engaged! In fact to engaged to go back and figure out how she did it! She has captured me and she won't let go until the end! Enjoy every book of hers that you can get your hands on!

A Month at the Lake

When Polly vacations in Canada for a month, Qwill picks up and moves to the cabin on the lake. He and the cats have a grand time getting to know people and looking for interesting stories. A couple from Florida open a new restrauant. The man mysteriously falls overboard one day while on a picnic with his wife on the lake. Qwill and Koko know something is amiss. I liked this instalment of, "The Cat Who," series. It wasn't as exciting as some of the others but it was cozy and entertaining.

A different idea

I think it is great that Lilian Jackson Braun is investigating other avenues of entertaining her readers. I found this book to be interesting. I enjoy reading about what Qwill, Koko and Yum Yum are doing. Lilian Jackson Braun writes well and she keeps me interested no matter if the mystery is as difficult as other ones or not. UFO's are a mystery in and off themselves!

May not be Shakespeare, but still lots of fun

I liked this book. I loved the ending. These books are fun. For great literature, I read the classics! For fun light reading I like Lilian Braun. I loved the UFO theme running through this book. But most of all I love her characters and her locations. When I'm reading her books I feel like I'm on vacation. Who doesn't need that?

Reading Lilian Braun is like eating comfort food.

I logged on to this site to confirm my opinion that Braun had written another successful "Cat Who.." book. Very surprised to see that I was probably in the minority. Come on folks! You read Lilian Braun to nestle in the world of Pickax and Mooseville and to let the real world disappear for a while. She's even gotten me to tolerate cats--at least literary ones. I hope the cat books go on forever. I need my yearly fix.

Moose County at its most wonderful and feline best

The residents of Moose County, four hundred miles north of nowhere, are convinced that ETs abducted a backpacker named David. To local columnist Jim Qwilleran, the disappearance of some stranger is no big deal. Jim ignores the rumors of UFOs, thinking that many of the county folks swear they have spotted Santa and not just on Christmas Eve. Instead, Jim decides to go on vacation to just get away from the thriving metropolis of Pickax (population 3,000). However, his time at the lodge with Koko and Yum Yum is interrupted when the missing down underer shows up dead. Jim, a former crime reporter, investigates the goings-on with the help of his two detective cats (Koko and Yum Yum). However, when the oddest individuals take up knitting and Koko becomes an amateur astronomer, Jim wonders if ET has landed. The twenty-first cat life of the "Cat Who" series is as weird, strange, and delightful as all the previous tales. However, in reality, THE CAT WHO SAW STARS is probably one of the best novels in this long running collection. Jim and his two companions are at their best and the local residents are at their weirdest. The story line is intriguing and Lilian Jackson Braun brillaintly ties everything together with a surprise ending. Anyone who reads this book as their entrance into this warm series, will be making the rounds of the second hand book stores for the rest of the stories.Harriet Klausner
