Book Overview

In From Sea to Shining Sea history buffs are transported back to the post-revolutionary era to discover how God intervened on behalf of a struggling nation. This fast-paced, absorbing narrative and sequel to the bestselling The Light and the Glory covers that fragile time in America's history from 1787 to 1837 when a newborn nation faced challenges and overcame her growing pains by clinging to her Christian heritage. Our American Heritage

Just as they did in "The Light And The Glory" the authors summarize so many interesting events during this period in our nation. We can be proud to be citizens of the United States and pray God will continue to intervene in our affairs so His glory will continue to shine "from sea to shining sea". Also, it helped me see how the same temptations as today (mainly a large, controlling federal government) were present back then...

Truth bows to no man....yet all men will one day bow before the truth."

I could pontificate profusely in many directions regarding the stalwort undertaking that is: "From sea to shining sea". Yet, I am moved most ardently to simply say this: "Those who will not remember the mistakes of the past, are doomed to repeat them." - George Santayana (aphorism) As our nation is fast falling so far from what was once blessed upon her, please consider studying the facts and find out for yourselves that...

Interesting and Informative

Having read "The Light and the Glory" I was interested in their next in what has proved to be a nicely laid out on-going series. This installment carries on from where the first left off. Starting with the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and moving through to 1830 the authors spend a considerable amount of time on a much shorter piece of American history (the first book covered over 300 years). Again the authors...

U.S. History from a decidedly Christian perspective.

A well researched history of the United States of America from the revolution to the Civil War. Delivered in a narative form, the authors make history come alive. They manage to put flesh and blood on the men and women of our "manifest destiny." Read how America and americans were shaped by their deep rooted belief in the God of the Bible. The circuit riding minister and the pulpit bound preacher were instrumental in the...
