Unexpected and fantastical elements make The Boy Who Grew Flowers a memorable and moving tall tale. Lushly illustrated by Canadian artist Steve Adams, the picture book uses humour and metaphor to promote tolerance and acceptance. Rink is a very unusual little boy who grows beautiful flowers all over his body when there is a full moon. In town and at school, Rink and his family are treated as outcasts. But one day a new girl arrives at school, and Rink discovers she has some unique qualities of her own.Ages 7-9
Beautifully illustrated and written, this is another winning tale about kids who are [feel] different. Adults and children will appreciate the sweet and enlightened "romance" that develops in this story. It's my current gift of choice for families with young children who are looking to promote tolerance and relationships built on respect.
A very touching and unique piece of creative art.

My 5 year old daughter and I love this book. It's one of our all-time favorites and our standard gift for friends' birthday parties. Appropriate for both boys and girls, this story is fun to read while beautifully demonstrating how to be a truly good friend. Our family is looking forward to the next offering from this talented author.
An amazing story with a message about the beauty within

The boy who grew flowers is a wonderful tale that children and parents will enjoy together. The main characters Rink and Angelina will steal your heart from the beginning. Its universal message about the beauty inside us all is especially positive for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider. Buy this book!
A Delightful Way to Teach Acceptance

My eight year old son who has Tourette's, takes ballet lessons and is a vegetarian (in beef farming country) often feels at odds with his peers. He selected this book for his school book report because it "makes him feel mushy" and he likes how the boy "finds someone who loves him." I have used this book to teach a unit on acceptance at the pre-school where I work and even younger children (ages 3-5) seem to appreciate the story and especially the illustrations.
Refreshing and charming...A must have!

This lovely book is compelling and heartwarming. In a charming manner, this story allows children to experience empathy for others while teaching them to view people through the lens of ability rather than disability.
