America's Firm Foundation was established on Biblical Principles

We can not state strongly enough what important reading this book is in order to be informed as to the history of our Country and the role the Bible had made in the lives of the Founding Fathers of our country in their decision-making and in forming our political process and Freedoms and how the Bible shaped our Country, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. The book also documents who were the Founding Fathers of our Country and their backgrounds, who formed these documents, and why all of this is important for America's future. What is impressive about the book is it's documentation and inclusion of speeches and events that are not always widely known but never the less factual events in the forming of our Country's history and it's political process. Many people these days are asking important questions about what's going on in the changes that we are seeing. Many are seeing that we are at a critical time in our Nation's history. The author of this book sees it's vital importances that every citizen understands what our Constitution says and how God's Sovereignty is what perserves us as the nation we are and if we forget this the consequences that may come will be as the same as other nations that did not acknowledge God. This book clearly lays a strong foundation of America's pass historical Christian roots and virtures that have made our Country great and why we must stand firm on the biblical principles which formed our Country and it's Freedom. Some chapter also includes pictures that help illustrate important points.

Book Review - The Book That Made America

"America is a Christian nation..." Thus declared the United States Supreme Court in Church of the Holy Trinity vs. the United States. Jerry Newcombe has clearly and concisely laid out significant evidence that the founding fathers were predominantly Christian in their worldview. In The Book That Made America: How the Bible Formed Our Nation, Newcombe presents a case for Christianity as the foundation for this great Republic. America's founding fathers were men of faith. Specifically, they were men of the Christian faith; and not deists, or secularists, as revisionist historians would have us believe. And yet, most Americans do not know the rich spiritual heritage of our nation, to their great loss. Since leaving our Christian heritage, America has fallen into a deplorable state of godlessness; and this can be traced directly to the decisions by our leaders in the past century to leave God out of our lives. In order for America to continue to be a great nation, and a great tool to be used by God in reaching the rest of the world, we need to return to those spiritual roots, to the foundations of our nation, built upon God's sacred Word, and restore the spiritual legacy our forefathers intended for generations to come. In The Book That Made America, Jerry Newcombe shows conclusive proof that America's Christian heritage was rich and can be extremely well-documented in the early writings of our nation's earliest leaders. Newcombe states that "America's best governing principles come from the Bible directly or indirectly, including the Biblical notion of covenant which gave rise to our Constitution." Christianity underpins the very fabric of our nation. George Washington stated that "without a humble imitation of Christ, we could never hope to be a happy nation." Calvin Coolidge, our thirtieth president, remarked, "If American democracy is to remain the greatest hope of humanity, it must continue abundantly in the faith of the Bible." Newcombe lays out the evidence for the Bible's pivotal role in American history very well. With separate, yet overlapping, sections about how the Bible was influential in not only the settling of America, as well as in the founding of our nation, The Book That Made America cites document after document showing just how important the Scriptures were to the men and women who came, and built, and settled, and established our great nation. One very interesting section of the book is in Part One: The Book That Made America. Jerry Newcombe provides a fifty question quiz about America's Christian Heritage. He provides the quiz first, and then explains in detail the answers to each question. I am an avid student of American history, and I found several areas where my thinking has been influenced by the revisionism prevalent in our culture today. Newcombe wraps up The Book That Made America with a section dealing with the idea, "Where did we go wrong?" Can we go back to the ideals set by our forefathers

Indispensable historical perspective

This book provides an excellent historical perspective of the Christian background of our nation. It allows the facts of the matter to speak for themselves. Anyone who has a deep appreciation for historical accuracy will love this book.

The Bible's Monumental Impact on the United States

Jerry Newcomb in The book That Made American Great: How The Bible Formed Our Nation, traces the greatness of America through the direct influence of scripture on its history. He documents with great precision that the Bible was the source which inspired the founding principles of the United States. Why is America great? The founders built the country upon the ground of the Word of God. This new work refutes the present administration's claim that America is not a Christian nation as he opens the readers eyes to the history and phenomenon of the most powerful nation in the annals of mankind.

Wonderful and Thought Provoking

This was a fascinating and thought provoking read - something that I really felt that I should have been siting with a highlighter and taking notes for a class rather than reading for simple pleasure. And I don't mean that it was a chore, I mean that there was so much good stuff in there to read that I know I'll never remember all of it. I'll definitely be re-reading this before long. This book takes you through the history of America from the first settlers to the founding fathers and into today looking at the impact that Christianity in general and the Bible in particular has had on how our nation has been shaped. It ends by looking at where we are today and how we are trying, apparently with every fiber of our being, to scoot away from any Biblical influence and how that is already destroying who and what we, as a nation, are. I highly recommend this to anyone who's even curious about the Christian history of America.
