Book Overview

A true crime blogger gets more than she bargained for while interviewing the woman acquitted of two cold case slayings in this chilling new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Sun Down Motel. In 1977, Claire Lake, Oregon, was shaken by the Lady Killer Murders: Two men, seemingly randomly, were murdered with the same gun, with strange notes left behind. Beth Greer was the perfect suspect--a rich, eccentric twenty-three-year-old...

The Book of Cold Cases

This was a great book, possibly my first by the author. It was super twisty and left me wanting to read more all the way until the end. I really like how it was written - in chapters between dates and different characters pov. I thought it would be too much to keep up with but it was not. There’s some books that don’t tie up loose ends but not this one, the ending seems to have ended the right way.

Interesting

This is my first Simone St. James book and while I feel like I had a good enough time, I felt surprised by the sudden supernatural element just because I guess I didn't see the story going that way? But I found the MC interesting and the mystery was really solid.

Another Winner

I can't help myself, but I am easily hooked by cold case stories and this was no exception. So, a cold case along with characters who are all a little flawed, a psychotic ghost, and you have a perfect recipe for a great read, in my humble opinion. I see in the reviews where The Book of Cold Cases wasn't as highly regarded by some viewers as other of Simone St. James' books but I found it every bit as good as her previous novels. I guess I will remain a die hard fan. She can't write them fast enough for me.

My least liked book by this author.

I have read all previous books and loved them. This effort was so disappointing. Poor plot and poor characters abound. I hope next book measures up to first ones.

Paranormal Thriller

This is a Paranormal Thriller. I was really looking forward to this book so much because I loved the other book by Simone St. James that I read. I felt this one fell short for me. There was a lot of suspense in this book, but I felt the paranormal parts was just ok. I know when the ghost parts was coming, and I guessed was of this book. I did not care about any of the characters. I feel there is a lot of true crime podcast books out there right now, and I do not think this is the best one I have read so far. It is also not the worst one either. I also found the ending to be just ok. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
