A thrilling mystery...

Robin Burcell is an exciting writer in the mystery genre. BONE CHAMBER is her second novel featuring the Sydney Fitzpatrick character. Her previous novels have been in the police procedural genre. She is an FBI trained forensic artist and an ex-police officer. Her ability to weave her career into her novels is interesting and makes a foundation for excellent novels. BONE CHAMBER is of this same mold. Her character, Sydney, does not want the limelight but the circumstances lead her into it. The elaborate plots may cause one to re-read at times but it is all worth it. Once into the novel, I found it to be a marvelous wealth of intricacies. It has a wealth of characters pursuing the same treasure she is trying to discover. I had to read as fast as I could...enjoyment does that to a person.

Gripping mystery novel

Robin Burcell has written a worthy novel weaving familiar elements in a fast-paced spy novel. This is, however, more than a spy story. Various intelligence agencies are involved, some in very deep cover. The legend of the Templar treasure and the origin of Freemasons becomes the crux of the story along with a quest for something hidden for hundreds of years. There are a few shocking twists, as one would expect. Griffin, a central player in this drama has sworn not to trust anybody, but to rely on his own thoughts and instincts. He has to redo this philosophy , however. Sydney Fitzpatrick who now works at Quantico, Virginia educating and researching finds herself falling into the same trouble she has vowed to avoid. It all makes for a pleasant reading experience. Enjoy.

Exciting thriller

When I saw the subject of "The Bone Chamber", Freemasons and the Templar Treasure, it sounded interesting but I was afraid it would be a poor imitation of a Dan Brown book. I was pleased to find that not only is it a face-paced suspense novel, it is also very original. The character of forensic artist Sydney Fitzpatrick is likeable and believable since she is an FBI agent drawn into a complex case and not just a civilian. I didn't know until I had read the book that this is the second Sydney Fitzpatrick book in a series. I greatly enjoyed "The Bone Chamber" without having read the first book, but I do want to go back and read the first book since I enjoyed this one so much. I was not familiar with author Robin Burcell before reading this book, but her impressive background includes work as a police officer, detective, and hostage negotiator and gives credibility to her work.

If you like DaVinci Code and Indiana Jones with a feminine flair, you'll love this book!

The Bone Chamber is a thinking person's mystery, not a quick-read, cozy mystery. You'll have to keep track of the characters and events or you will get lost. I had to go back and read pages over again several times in order to keep up with the plot. But it was SO worth it! This book has everything: mystery, suspense, history, romance and even some touches of the DaVinci Code and Indian Jones. The suspense builds quickly and keeps you turning pages all the way to the end. As a matter of fact, my husband and I were reading it together (me in the book and he on his Kindle) and were racing to see who would get to the end first! Burcell creates a heroine who is easy to identify with and care about. Sydney Fitzpatrick is a FBI forensic artist with a past. She's a reluctant heroine who just wants to do life, but once she gets in the action, there's no stopping her. Her love interest is handsome and mysterious, making me wonder if he is friend or foe, adding to the excitement. The other characters are equally interesting and believable. The plot involved murder, hidden treasures, missing maps, and secret underground caverns, all the things that make for an exciting read. Although the ending was satisfying and enjoyable, it left me with the feeling that there could be a sequel. I hope so! I'm looking forward to reading more of Burcell's books!
