The Best of Vance Havner

For the last fifteen years of his life, Vance Havner mentored me, encouraged me and showed me what it was like to walk with God. It is sad that his publisher apparently has so little interest in his 39 books. About the only way you can find his books now is through a used book site. This is a good glimpse into his style and passion. I've been privileged to recently compile a book of Havner's material and hope that the interest in this great preacher/ prophet will grow so that his books will one day all be reprinted.

Vance Havner started preaching at 14, and didn't stop til he went to glory! That alone is a great legacy, but Uncle Vance also preached some of the greatest messages I have ever heard and read. He was the most homespun of country preachers, possessing a southern charm that always belied his great intellect and persuasive power. A preacher friend of mine has said it well: "Old Vance was half Charles Spurgeon and half Billy Sunday with the voice of Will Rogers."These selections are a great intro to a good ol' man of God. Check out the autobiographical "Journey from Jugtown," the powerful "Jesus is Lord," and the still smokin' message on Gamaliel.GREAT stuff!

Those who heard him will never forget him. His messages, which he almost read word for word, were spell binding. There were hundreds of statements that have been quoted thousands of times. This book captures, for posterity, the very best of Vance Havner's unique messages. Those who never heard this man must read these for there is no one who has or could ever duplicate his style and passion.
