Shocked in Washington

I was looking up this author to see if he had written any other books. Which I have been unable to locate. I was shocked to read a review from the san antonio reader. I also have a signed book by this author and was told many of the same lies. I feel disgusted right now and feel fortunate to be alive. I aqgree with the above readers editorial he is a excellent story teller but his book should be removed, along with any other books if he wrote them or is that a lie to.

Book was good, Author is a dead crook!

I read this book after I received a personnaly signed copy from the author himself when I went to work with him in a new venture he started in Olypia, WA. When I met him, he told me he had once been a manager for the Harlem Globetrotters, and was funding his new venture with savings that he had from that and several books he had written. He was a very believable and sincere sounding man, that seemed as harmless as a nat. It wasn't until I put up some money to buy shares in his new venture, and he disappeared, that the true story about Charles Wright came out. Just one year earlier (Nov 98) a local Seattle TV station (KOMO) did a story on him and his many lies. He had been convicted at least twice for identity fraud and imbezzelment, once involving one of the former Globetrotters while he was employed by them (not as a manager) and once in Tacoma for convincing a friend to put up money for a book that he claimed was to be published. It was later proven the he himself had drafted the acceptance letter on some Random House letterhead. The book was never published. He had also been caught posing as a marriage counselor in Elma, Wa., claiming he had earned his degree from UCLA, only to be exposed as having used another Charles Wright's identity, who is a counselor in CA. This man was a career criminal as a pathalogical liar. When several of us that had been working with him on his new venture, began to realize there were some inconsistencies in the stories he told us about why our paychecks were bouncing, he disappeared. He was found two weeks later, dead in his car from an appearant suicide. I did enjoy the book, but after getting to know the man, I can see where the imagination for the stories comes from. It is no wonder that his writings get reviews like: "His imagination is unending and his stories varied." This book should be removed from distribution. Nobody, including his family, wanted anything to do with him when he died, and his book should receive the same acceptance.

Must reading

A true storyteller's book, these are the kind of tales that should be shared around the fire in hushed voices so that the 12 'secrets' won't be overheard. Wright's themes blend intrigue and the mystical in the same breath. They are surprising in their range, appealing to people of all ages and backgrounds. From the secrets of the trees to the story of Leprechuan's gold, the reader is treated to narrative in the best written tradition. As the magical doorway between worlds is opened and secrets are revealed with imagination and flair, Wright has us questioning our reality as we journey into the unknown, enjoying every step of the way..

Intriguing, captivating, colorful, ingenious ending.....

Charles Wright paints a captivating picture with words. His imagination is unending and his stories varied. This writing brought tears to my eyes, sweetness to my heart and laughter to my soul....what a pleasure he is to read. ThankYou Charles for your gift. A fan.
