This book is not a how-to primer. It is a very nicely photographed monograph(?) of birdhouse Mike Dillon was kind enough to share with us. I have spent several hours gleaning inspiration from his sometimes quirky and ingenious use of materials.

This is a lovely book, showing a delightful array of birdhouse forms ... out of an amazing array of materials. DO NOTE: this is a book of tasty photographs. It is not for the person seeking information on design or attracting specific birds.

Picture the birdhouse you and your grandfather made in your garage when you were nine. I guarantee it did not look like anything in this book. These are not your average birdhouses! Each 'piece' is a unique interpretation. From the melting birdhouse (a la Dali) to the ceramic mosaic birdhouse there are some pretty incredible designs here! (my favorite is "darn woodpeckers" which is a 'traditional' birdhouse, riddled with holes, sitting in a pile of sawdust.)The beautiful photographs and stylish layout make the book a work of art unto itselfI highly recommend this to anyone who a) is into birdhouses, b) is into unusual art or c) has a sense of humo
