One of the hottest book ever!!!!!!!

I really loved the characters (specially Dominick). I think the author really wanted to give us a great book to read and she did! I couldn't stop reading the book all over again but the only thing the author missed of the book was the romance between Gwen and Stratford, I know they did marry and stuff but the little I read about them was so exciting as Parris and Dominick, .........In few words a hot book!!!!

A Frustratingly Wonderful Read

The hero and heroine of Melanie George's latest historical romance, Dominick and Parris, were extremely likeable characters that were easy to root for. Dominick and Parris were childhood friends who have basically loved each other since they were kids. For various reasons (misunderstandings, lies and secrets) they have been kept apart and at times it appears that they'll never get it right. Often their biggest problems stemmed from omission - they didn't communicate properly so they made assumptions. Very frustrating. Finally, through misunderstandings, lies, and secrets, they finally get together but Ms. George really makes them work for that happy ending! You won't regret picking this one up.

The Art of Seduction

This book was simple wonderful. I would give it a 10 instead of a mere 5. This is my first Melanie George novel and it will not be my last. This book was so great that I had it read in about 10 hours. I was teary eyed when I finished it simply because it didn't want it to end. Like the other reviewer, I agree about the back of the book. "Lady Scruples" is not really what the book is about. It's about two people that have loved each other since childhood. They are split apart because of a mistake, but they find each other again after eight years of separation. I don't want to spoil anything for the reader, so I won't say anymore, except, this book was truely wonderful.

The Art of Seduction

This book was simple wonderful. I have read many, many books and I must say I was getting a little bored with reading. Then I found this book. This is my first Melanie George novel and it will not be my last. This book was so great that I had it read in about 10 hours. I was teary eyed when I finished it simply because it didn't want it to end. Like the other reviewer, I agree about the back of the book. "Lady Scruples" is not really what the book is about. Enjoyable, fast paced read!

I picked this up with a gift certificate I won at a raffle, not expecting much. From the first page I was hooked, and finished the bulk of the book during a rare two-hour nap from my toddler. Sometimes, I wonder who writes the back covers and if they really read the book. Parris has been in love with Dominick all her life, they grew up together and Dominick has always known that Parris is his. When Parris first confesses her love to Dominick, he feels that she is too young and avoids her for two years. When he returns, his mother is having a masquerade ball where he follows a mysterious woman into the garden and is seduced, he is surprised to discover the bold, mysterious woman was a virgin. Before he could discuss this with the woman, she disappears leaving a monogramed hankie behind. Mistakenly, Dominick sees the initials of Parris' sister, Anne, and, honor-bound, he offers for her. A few weeks later he walks in on Anne and his older brother - who were continuing their long-time affair. Anne is forced to break off the engagement (which she does, saying that Dominick was the one sleeping around). Parris is devastated believing that Dominick loves her sister and won't speak with Dominick. Dominick joins the army and doesn't return for eight years. This is pretty much the first chapter. The bulk of the story is Dominick and Parris resolving the misunderstandings that come from that night in the garden and the machinations of the older sister to keep them apart. The fact that Parris was left at the alter is a minimal point in the plot, and was because she told her fiance of her night in the garden with Dominick and admitted her love for another. "Lady Scruples" is Parris and her cousin Gwen, they are out to avenge woman-kind from the evil misdeeds of men. This point in the plot is not the story, just something that drives it and allows for the characters to get into more problems than they would have been able to otherwise.
