Christmas is over.... but before you throw out your tree lets do something for the animals

I really like this book because it shows children that once Christmas is over and their Christmas tree is heading to the street with the trash here is something cool you and your children can do. This would be a really cool and different way to do a January birthday party, inexpensive and lots of fun! Have a After Christmas Party! Invite friends and have a after Christmas party to make a tree for animals during the winter. It doesn't matter if you live where it snows and where it doesn't snow the animals will appreciate seeds and peanut butter plus it makes for a really cool party to go and collect pine cones or gather them before the party. It's not expensive all you need is popcorn, cranberries, string, peanut butter, bird seeds and nuts. Then serve hot chocolate and popcorn some to eat. Then go out and decorate your tree and put peanuts and other nuts at the bottom of the tree. Not only will you have an awesome and inexpensive party, but you'll also be giving the wild life some treats too! And that way your Christmas tree can enjoy it's 2nd season of giving just like the book says.
A NICE LITTLE BOOK AND A NICE IDEA.

The After-Christmas Tree is the story, told though a child, of a party their family gave after the Christmas Tree came down. The idea of the party was to gather friends and family, decorate the old tree with goodies that birds and other wildlife would like and set the three out. The story line is simple as is the writing. The art work, by Susan Davis, is quite good in an idealized sort of way. This is a nice little christmas book for the very young child. It is a nice read along book.
The After Christmas Tree

When it's time to take down the Christmas tree, don't let the "end of holiday blues" strike your children. Read this story and then continue the Christmas spirit of giving by decorating your discarded Christmas tree for the birds (and any other creatures searching for food in the dead of the winter!) A great family book and activity. Also a great activity for Kindergarten teachers to use when students return from Christmas vacation!
